The East Bay
Bat Rays Swim Team, or EBAT, just began it’s 9th year of
competitive swimming for the 2007 - 2008 swim season. We
are a non-profit organization that is dedicated to competition,
commitment, sportsmanship, family, fun, learning, and
friendships, with a common goal of bringing swimming to higher
and higher levels in this community. Becoming a member
of EBAT makes you a member of United States Swimming, the national
governing body of the sport in the U.S. Your
U.S.A. Swimming membership provides you with insurance
coverage, the opportunity to swim in first-rate swimming
competition and a free subscription to Splash!, the
membership newsletter. EBAT is one of over 2,600 programs
nationwide. We currently have about 80 swimmers on
the team, ranging from 5 yrs. old to college age. We swim
year-round at Cal State East Bay.
Other swim programs, such as
the local summer league, (EBSL), is great at introducing
the sport of swimming to young athletes, and it also helps the
transition into high school swimming. However, these teams
are limited in the number of events offered to swim as well as the
length of the season. The short events and the short season are
sometimes not enough for those who want more out of swimming.
Some may wish to compete at a higher level by the time they start
high school, or they are looking ahead to college competition, with
possible scholarships to strive for.
The East Bay Bat Rays Swim Team can
offer personal success to everyone who joins. We have
produced Junior National finalists as well as nationally ranked age
group swimmers. Whether you are joining this team because you
are seriously dedicated to this sport and want to shoot for the
stars or if you think you might want to just try one of our clinics
during the year to enhance your summer league or high school
performance, we have a lane for you.
